Guided Visualization: Safe Space
What we think has a direct impact on how we feel, as adrienne marie brown says throughout her work, “what we pay attention to grows”.
If you think about the stressful day ahead or the embarrassing thing you said last night at that party, you will probably notice some tension showing up in your body or a speeding up of some not-so-pleasant thoughts.
Alternatively, when we think or talk about moments when we felt happy or safe we may feel more pleasurable sensations happen in our bodies (warmth in your chest, spaciousness in your breath, a smile on your face…).
Having access to at least one “safe space” or anchor in your mind can be an invaluable resource. When you are feeling triggered/activated, try accessing your safe space through this guided visualization or through a similar exploration on your own.
